Ate off of the steak menu here and the meal was cooked excellently. The staff went above board to make me feel welcomed and I'd definitely return for a special occasion. Thanks.
The Preston Marriott what can I say? Yes it's a hotel, yes they have a gym and a small pool and its convenient for the M6 and for Preston. But it's also a soulless wasteland. It's the sort of hotel the staff from The Office might gather at for a corporate strategy away day. Strangely the kitchen manages to produce meals of a reasonable standard, the service is slow and not great but it's conceivable that there is someone lurking in the kitchen with a modicum of ambition.The dining room is overwhelmingly green and not even a pleasant green; a sort of strange mishmash of pale green carpets and a wallpaper with a similar hue. It's all a bit much.
Stayed twice there. Great location ... some rooms are very tiny though with dated (stained) furniture and spider webs on the further parts of the rooms. Breakfast is okay, but they try very hard to cram everyone in a small section of the dining area and will not entertain requests to sit elsewhere. Restaurant never seems to be open when you want to eat ... staff is far from welcoming and have to ask each other if the place is open to accept guests. I'd rather go elsewhere. Was turned down twice when i attempted to try it out.I would opt for a cheaper hotel than this one where you feel very unwelcomed or you stay at their terms at best.
For the money I was not overly impressed. The dining area was tired and in need of an upgrade. Breakfast was included and on both days that we stayed it was lacking in food. Lots of noise from early morning which appeared to be staff getting things ready.That said the staff were very professional and polite.The gym was very impressive which with the staff adds a star.
Apart from the long walk with 2 young children from the car park to the rooms our overall experience was very good. Lovely area on the green for the kids to run around and burn off some energy with a shaded area and a few games to keep them busy. Food was good but not much variety for vegetarians. Conveniently located to the motorway.
